The X5 is now available in a synthesized and crystal based version. The crystal based X5 has either an IP66 or IP67/ATEX where the synthesized version has an IP66 rating. This FLEX or POCSAG programmed pager is designed with functions and fuctionalities that specifically meet the needs of emergency services organizations, medical, mining, petrochemical and security industries.

Developed as a result of extensive end user research and field analysis, the X5 is an intrinsically safe pager that can operate, and be operated, in extremely harsh environments. Buttons are spaced and have positive tactile feedback for use with gloves and at 85dB (A), the X5 is one of the loudest pagers on the market today.

Features

• The X5 is the only waterproof and dustproof (IP66/IP67 rated) alphanumeric pager in the world.
• The X5 is intrinsically safe allowing for safe use in HAZMAT environments. This assists in maintaining the Duty of Care responsibilities of an organization to its staff.
• The X5 is the only inductive rechargeable unit in the world...a single charge typically lasts more than a week and the X5 eliminates the need to purchase batteries and therefore reduces Operational Expenditure (OPEX) budget requirements.
• The X5 is the only pager in the world with a colour screen. This means it can potentially receive pictures and diagrams as well as distinguishing messages by colour coding.
• The X5 is specifically designed for operation with one hand or with gloves (for use within emergency service environments).
• The X5 body is constructed from glass-reinforced nylon (Zyxtel from Dupont) and has a skeleton chassis construction. This combination means the X5 is probably the toughest pager unit available in the world today.
• The X5 decodes network protocol via internal software (not from a fixed chip). If required, an inbuilt processor can manipulate network data for presentation. The X5 is a smart device. A Software Development Kit can be made available upon request and a suite of games provided on the evaluation device is there to showcase the processing capability of the unit. Infostream pagers are unique in this attribute and are therefore the smartest pagers in the world. The X5 can therefore adjust to technology developments/upgrades on the Paging Network.
• The X5 is capable of Over the Air programming (OTA) for both capcodes and its own internal firmware (only available today on Infostream Xstream pagers). The unit does not have to be returned to base to be reprogrammed or updated and can be provisioned in the field remotely (dependent on the network itself having this capability).
• The X5 is capable of supporting up to 128 capcodes/addresses (across two frames and up to 4 profiles) as standard. We believe this is more than any other pager available in the world. This assists in reducing network congestion.
• The X5 is capcode programmable via infrared from a laptop as well as Over the Air (OTA)- this reduces both time and cost associated to updating pagers in the field.
• The X5 is immersible which facilitates excellent sterilization capabilities in the Health Industry.
• The X5 has received the European Mobile Messaging Award for Innovation in 2007 followed by the Australian International Design Award for Innovation in 2008.
